STATUS OF THE WORKS FOR THE EXECUTION OF EMERGENCY GALLERIES IN FIVE RAILWAY TUNNELS OF THE VITORIA-BILBAO-SAN SEBASTIÁN HIGH-SPEED LINE. VITORIA-BILBAO SECTION
With the aim of reinforcing the safety of the railway tunnels on the Vitoria-Bilbao route of the Vitoria-Bilbao-San Sebastián-French border line, ADIF, through the joint venture formed by the construction companies NORTUNEL (50%) and GEOTUNEL (50%), and with the Technical Assistance in the work provided by the joint venture of the engineering companies ESTEYCO (60%) and TEAM Ingeniería (40%), is carrying out the construction of evacuation galleries that will run parallel to the main tunnel. In this regard, the actions included in the project align with the following:
— In the INDUSPE tunnel (2,208 m) on the Eskoriatza-Aramaio section, a 1,217 m gallery with two evacuation connections is being constructed, with two emergency exits.
— In the UDALAITZ tunnel (3,165 m) on the Mondragón-Elorrio section, the final gallery will be 1,506 m long and will have two connections with the tunnel.
— In the GANZELAI tunnel (1,392 m) on the Amorebieta-Lemoa section, the gallery will be 403 m long and will have one connection with the tunnel.
— In the GALDAKAO tunnel (1,814 m) on the Lemoa-Galdakao section, the 839 m gallery will have one connection with the main tunnel.
— In the ZARATAMO tunnel (2,713 m) on the Galdakao-Basauri section, the gallery will be 728 m long, with two connections with the tunnel.
These works, which are progressing at a good pace, are part of the actions planned to adapt the infrastructure to the European Union railway system regulations (Technical Specifications for Interoperability), whose guidelines aim to increase the safety in the evacuation of passengers and personnel in case of an incident on the line.
