ADIF PROMOTES THE STRATEGIC AND MULTIMODAL LOGISTICS NODE LA LLAGOSTA, KEY IN THE INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT OF GOODS
The project was presented on July 1st, at the International Logistics Exhibition. The Logistics Center La Llagosta, located at 15 km from Barcelona, is configured as a fully interoperable, high-capacity, sustainable, efficient, and integrated node, which will boost rail transport in an area of great socio-economic potential, such as the Mediterranean axis and its area of influence.
The project, drafted by the Esteyco Inserail UTE, will link with the Barcelona-French Border High-Speed Line, connect internationally with the Mediterranean Corridor and contribute decisively to the objectives of this communications axis, providing transport with greater efficiency, a significant reduction in pollutant emissions and carbon footprint, a reduction of costs in railway operation, an improved efficiency and reliability performance for rail circulations – including full compatibility with other European rail networks – and more competitive travel times.
La Llagosta will thus become a benchmark for the treatment of interoperable standard length freight trains (compatible with the rest of the European railway network) of 750 meters, connecting it in mixed gauge to the El Papiol-Mollet line and in standard width to the high-speed network, in both cases from the Mollet Fork.
The construction of new infrastructure, such as the multimodal platform, contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 8, aimed at promoting sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth; and 9, which has among its goals the development of reliable, sustainable, resilient, and quality infrastructures.
