ESTEYCO WILL PERFORM THE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT OF SANITATION AND PURIFICATION IN EIGHT MUNICIPALITIES IN THE SURROUNDINGS OF CASTROVIDO DAM

The Dirección General del Agua (Water General Direction), has awarded Esteyco with “The technical Assistance for the performing of wastewater projects from the urban centre on the surroundings of Castrovido Dam (Burgos)”.

The project arises as a requirement of the Environmental Impact Statement of the Castrovido Dam project on the Arlanza River, approved by resolution of December 17, 1999 (BOE No. 15 of January 18, 2000) in which it is established in its condition 14 that “A project will be drafted that includes the compensatory measures defined in the environmental impact study such as the reforestation and immediate implementation of a wastewater treatment system of the towns that currently discharge these waters to the Arlanza river basin located above the Castrovido dam. In this situation are the municipalities of Regumiel de la Sierra, Quintanar de la Sierra, Canicosa de la Sierra, Vilviestre del Pinar, Palacios de la Sierra, Monasterio de la Sierra, Hacinas, Castrillo de la Reina and the urban centre of Castrovido, belonging to the municipality of Salas de los Infantes. All of them are set in the province of Burgos.

The contract will be developed in these phases:

Detailed study of the current sanitation network, discharge points, pumping stations, and existing WWTPs; determining its state and operational deficiencies, to get a diagnosis of the current situation and the study of solutions for projects’ development can be made.
Alternatives study for the definition of collectors and complementary works needed to gather as much as spills as possible or drive them to nearby sewage treatment plants.
Study and environmental processing of the selected answer.
Definition, at construction project level, of the new WWTPs and the modifications of the existing WWTPs, together with their associated collector networks, that ensure that the final discharge to the
natural environment complies with all current legal and regulatory requirements.
