On June 13, at the 7th edition of the “Infrastructure Night”, the Infrastructure Advisory Council of Catalonia awarded the prize for the best infrastructure put into service in 2022 to the Glòries tunnel.

At the event, attended by the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sanchez, and the new Minister of Territory of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Ester Capella, Carlos García Acón, representing Esteyco, received the award as Tunnel Designer, shared with BIMSA as Promoter, the Construction Management and the different construction companies that executed the works.

The Glorias tunnels are possibly one of the most complex works that have been developed in Spain in the last decade. The burial of the Gran Vía under four railway tunnels in service and below the water table, with absolutely innovative construction techniques that have become an international benchmark, has made it possible to transform the nerve center of the Cerdá Plan, turning it into a large park and a new centrality for Barcelona.
