The ELICAN project, demonstrator of ELISA technology ©, with 5MW of power, is installed in marine waters of Gran Canaria

September 27 -. Nexus Energía will represent in the electricity markets the energy produced by the first experimental offshore wind project in Spain. Specifically, the company will optimize the sale of offshore wind energy generated by the ELICAN project of 5 MW of installed power in marine waters of the PLOCAN Test Bank, in Gran Canaria, for two years.

The ELICAN project, promoted, developed and operated by Esteyco, was the first offshore wind turbine in the world installed without the need for large ships or marine cranes. This offshore wind turbine is a full-scale prototype of Esteyco’s ELISA technology ©, which uses a gravity foundation (GBS) for offshore wind, configured to act as a floating platform that allows the joint installation of the substructure and the wind turbine. Each complete unit, the GBS and the wind turbine (WTG), is assembled completely on land, conventionally towed to the final location and installed with low-cost means (tugs).
