ESTEYCO TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RENEWAL OF THE MIÑO LINE FOLLOWING CONTRACT AWARD FOR THE OURENSE-GUILLAREI SECTION

ESTEYCO is set to participate in the modernization of the Vigo-Ourense railway line, commonly known as the Miño Line, following Adif’s award of the contract to draft the renewal projects for the 96 km Ourense-Guillarei section.

The project will be executed by a consortium comprising ESTEYCO, Sers, and Icyfsa. This represents a significant step forward for a strategic infrastructure corridor in northwestern Spain, aiming to enhance the line’s capacity, reliability, and performance for both passenger and freight traffic.

Awarded for €4.72 million, the contract encompasses defining the necessary actions for a comprehensive overhaul of both the infrastructure and the track.

The engineering works will be structured into three distinct sections:

  • Ourense-Filgueira: 38 km

  • Filgueira-Arbo: 24 km

  • Arbo-Guillarei: 34 km, including the 800-meter Guillarei junction

 

 

The projects will primarily include the following actions:

  • Geotechnical & Track Upgrades: Improvement of cuttings and earthworks, alongside the full replacement of track components (ballast, sleepers, and rails).

  • Station Adaptations: Feasibility studies to adapt the Barbantes, Filgueira, and Salvaterra stations to accommodate 750-meter-long trains.

  • Operational Optimization: Studies to streamline and rationalize tracks and platforms at the remaining stations along the route.

  • System Modernization: Design of the required adaptations to the electrification system to advance toward route standardization

Concluding this award, ESTEYCO further solidifies its position in highly complex railway projects, leveraging its extensive expertise in infrastructure engineering to deliver solutions that modernize and improve the operational efficiency of the transport network.
