THE GENERAL DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION AT ADIF VISITS THE CONSTRUCTION SITE OF THE LA LLAGOSTA MULTIMODAL STATION
On 7 February, Mr. Juan Pablo Villanueva, General Manager of Construction of ADIF, visited the works of the CONSTRUCTION PROJECT FOR THE STANDARD GAUGE CONNECTION TO THE MEDITERRANEAN CORRIDOR OF THE MULTIMODAL PLATFORM OF LA LLAGOSTA (BARCELONA). PLATFORM, TRACK AND ELECTRIFICATION in which ESTEYCO participates as assistance and control of the works.
The works of the La Llagosta Multimodal Platform are part of the plans to promote the transport of goods on the axis of the Mediterranean Corridor, turning this terminal into one of the main strategic nodes in Spain in international freight traffic. Its main objectives are to adapt the terminal to European standards for the treatment of goods, connecting it in standard gauge to the Barcelona – French Border line, adapting the terminal to mixed gauge and, in addition, the connection at the Mollet Fork and adapting it to allow the treatment of trains of 750 meters in length.
The purpose of the Construction Project is to connect the terminal to the Mediterranean corridor in standard gauge. The main actions of the project include:
- Remodeling of the Llagosta railway terminal
- Elevation of the existing technical track and laying of a new technical track consisting of five parallel tracks with an axle spacing of 5.42 m, with lengths greater than 750 m, mounted in mixed gauge and electrified at 3,000 V.
- The logistics bundle will consist of 4 lanes for the loading and unloading of ICUs and one lane for the loading and unloading of cars. All these tracks will be mounted on ballast and mixed gauge.
- The terminal will have two maneuvering tracks of lengths greater than 750 m.
- Remodeling of access to the terminal
- Standard gauge connection with the Mediterranean corridor from the viaduct of the high-speed line.
- Adaptation to mixed gauge of the connecting track between the La Llagosta platform and the Papiol – Mollet line, from the Mollet Junction or South Connection with commuter trains
- Remodeling of the Multimodal Platform
- New slab, of approximately 12 hectares, which will allow the operation of the terminal.
- General facilities of the freight terminal including the pile foundation for the overhead crane
The budget for the works is 59.6 million euros, financed by the European Union with NextGenerationEU funds.
