Last Wednesday May 15th, Esteyco received a Mention in the Construmat Awards 2019 in the Work Built category for the Elisa Technology Prototype, PLOCAN, Gran Canaria.
The jury highlighted: “Renewables will put new challenges on the table that will also require innovation and design in infrastructures. This project has been able to adapt known solutions to this new challenge”.
It is the first offshore wind turbine in the world installed without using large ships or marine cranes and the first in the South of Europe with bottom fixed. ELISA technology consists in a substructure for offshore wind turbines supported on the seabed, built of concrete, and which main characteristic is a self-floating foundation for transport that includes a telescopic tower.
ELISA technology, being innovative, not only reduces costs compared to current technologies, but also reduces risks and environmental impact, increasing significantly the local content.
