CDTI APPROVES THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE TIM PLATFORM
At the beginning of March 2018, CDTI approved the grant for the design and construction of a platform for Transportation (T), Installation (I) and Maintenance (M) of gravity offshore structures with a total budget of 2,4 M€.
The main technical objective of the project is the development of a new product: a modular metal platform, with the capacity to dock a structure installed in the sea and allow, in a relatively simple way, its transportation, installation and maintenance.
The TIM platform demonstrator project will be used to perform the installation of ELICAN offshore wind turbine full scale prototype, currently under construction with European funds in Las Palmas, validating the technology for its introduction into the market and subsequent commercialization. This system will be used to increase the stability during the transportation and finally the installation of the ELICAN prototype at PLOCAN test area.
