RECOEF PROJECT CONTINUES ITS COURSE AND WILL ENTER ITS HOME STRAIGHT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR 2017
The RECOEF Project led by ESTEYCO (Floating Wind Turbine Cost Reduction in Spanish) is in its final phase of development. ESTEYCO, as a pioneer of offshore wind energy, has developed this new technology which will revolutionize the field.
More specifically, RECOEF project is focused on finding ballasting cost reduction through the study of the different alternatives of deep-water ballasting and installation methods. In order to achieve this objective, an existing basic design of floating platform with suspended weight and a telescopic tower -which has been numerically and experimentally modelled- have been taken as a point of departure.
This technology has been successfully tested and validated in laboratory. For this purpose, we relied on the invaluable assistance of IHCantabria and its hydrodynamic installations. Once this phase is completed, a new promising phase of construction and definitive prototyping will be developed for the completion of this pioneer project.
