Iberdrola has started assembling the 38 wind turbines of the Tâmega Wind Farm, the largest in the country—a strategic project for the energy transition with an investment of €350 million.

At Esteyco, we have had the privilege of contributing to this milestone by developing the detailed engineering for the Támega Norte and Támega Sur wind farms, helping make a key infrastructure for renewable energy generation and management a reality.

The project, located between Braga and Vila Real, incorporates hybrid wind-hydro technology, optimizing grid integration and reducing environmental impact. With 38 Vestas EnVentus V172 turbines of 7.2 MW, the farm will generate 601 GWh annually—enough to supply 128,000 homes—while avoiding the emission of 230,000 tons of CO₂ per year.

Construction will continue until the third quarter of 2026, creating 700 direct jobs, and includes innovative solutions such as hydraulic transport of 85-meter blades to minimize impacts on road infrastructure, as well as pioneering measures for biodiversity protection and landscape restoration.
