Esteyco participated last week in the 18th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering (WCEE2024) in Milan. WCEE is held every 4 years and is the most important international scientific event in the field of seismic engineering, attracting around 5000 delegates from around the world.

At the conference, Esteyco presented some of our recent work in close collaboration with Fusion for Energy (F4E) and ITER Organization for the analysis and assessment of the structural integrity of the reactor supporting structure under extreme seismic events. Our conference proceeding, titled «Non-linear seismic analyses of the ITER Tokamak Complex and Machine for Beyond Design-Basis Scenarios» showcased a novel approach proposed and developed by ESTEYCO for the derivation of very efficient nonlinear dynamic FE models able to analyse and assess such events in a very agile manner. These tools can significantly improve the understanding of the plant’s behaviour, contributing to a more robust and safe design.

Our colleagues had the invaluable opportunity to learn from pioneering research and connect with industry peers who share the same motivation and views on advancing towards seismic safety and innovation.
