CLIENT:PORT OF CARTAGENA
Cartagena de Indias (Colombia)
Within its commitment to encourage the city’s development, the Cartagena Regional Port Company has identified a set of actions in the area near the port installations that forms a relevant contribution to the development and organisation of the Manga district and, as a consequence, to the mobility problems of the island to house the installations of the tourist docks for cruise liners.
With the premise that the correct articulation of these actions and an integral vision of the potential for the transformation of the various elements proposed can position the Manga as the trigger for urban transformation, the Cartagena Regional Port Company has contracted Esteyco to structure the pre-feasibility of a public-private association (PPA) for the integral management of the urban zoning set for the Manga district.
The three main actions for developing the Isla de Manga are the regeneration of the pipes and the urban reorganisation, the designing of two tunnels to connect the Avenida Manga with Bocagrande Sur and Puente Román with Bocagrande Norte and the re-landscaping of the Paseo Bahía de las Ánimas.
