CLIENT: RUBAU COLOMBIA
The road project BOYACA TRANSVERSE, OTANCHE – CHIQUINQUIRA (ROUTE 6007) AND CROSSING ROUTE 45 (TWO AND A HALF) – OTANCHE (ROUTE 6006) SECTIONS is part of the Roads Equity programme and seeks to repair and maintain roads that consolidate the national roads system, favouring strategic connections in and between the regions of Colombia from a logistics, geographical, social, safety, sovereignty and economic point of view and is also framed within the policy of projects referred to in the 2014-2018 National Development Plan.
In 2016, the Consorcio Vial 081 commissioned Esteyco Colombia to design the solutions for repairing and protecting a set of 33 critical sections identified by the Invias along this road that needed urgent work. The study area is characterised by very rugged mountain terrain with heavy rain and unstable land.
The main actions consist of paving, repairing the road drainage system and reinforcing the hillsides affected by regional landslips, rock falls and undermining. Notable among the measures designed are the construction of diaphragm walls, carriageways built on overhanging structures and protections for the road against falling blocks with cut and cover tunnels.
