Esteyco, along with the architectural firms UNStudio and b720, will develop the Chamartín station remodeling project for Adif AV. The contract with a total duration of 72 months, will include the preparation of conceptual design, preliminary design and detailed design projects with an overall investment of 1,000 million euros.
The remodeling of Chamartín railway station arises from a double need: to allow, together with the remodeling of Atocha station and through the Atocha-Chamartín tunnel, to connect the north and northwest of the peninsula with the rest of the high-speed network, creating a single Railway System in which Atocha-Chamartín will become its main node; and to transform the station into an intermodal and service center that will be an international reference and, fully integrated into the city, will become the heart of the development of Madrid Nuevo Norte.
The project will be complemented by the plazas north and south of the station, which will serve as a connection to the urban parks that will be generated over the railway tracks and will become a meeting point and a hub of activity themselves. The project will also include the construction of four office towers, including the new Adif headquarters, which will complete the architectural complex integrating it into the Madrid skyline.
The station will be the largest European example of a sustainable station and a meeting point within the capital, as well as a hyperconnected station in every sense and an icon of modernity where the most modern technical improvements will be applied.
