Asset management

Asset management for infrastructure consists of the integrated, multidisciplinary set of strategies to maintain public infrastructures such as roads, railways, bridges, tunnels, cuttings, embankments and networks. To date, the process has focused on the later stages of the life cycle of any given facility, specifically its maintenance, refurbishment and replacement. But in our view another step is necessary, introducing the concept right from conception and through construction, making good use of management systems like BIM.

For many years now, we have been working on inspecting, monitoring and repairing structures, building up experience and know-how that facilitates the early identification of any pathologies. But, in our view, there is still a lot left to do. For example, well-conceived instrumentation adapted to each type of structure, and good ongoing analysis of data collected, using task-specific software, will be key to achieving the basic goal of preserving and prolonging the working life of assets in the long term as vital underlying components when it comes to maintaining quality of life in society and an efficient economy.

Climate change is an increasingly important issue in asset management for any infrastructure, as are functional obsolescence and being able to breathe new life into our structures. In this regard, we also have extensive experience and skills from an architectural and structural point of view.
