Barcelona celebrates the inauguration of the new Glorias park

Next Saturday, April 26, 2025, Barcelona will celebrate the inauguration of the Glorias park, a new green lung that promises to revitalize the city. This event marks a significant milestone in the history of the Plaza de las Glorias, a space that has undergone numerous transformations over the last century and a half.

The Plaza de las Glorias has witnessed constant evolution, adapting to the changing needs of the city. From its original configuration to modern mobility infrastructures, this space has been a reflection of Barcelona’s urban progress. The funds from the Municipal Archive of Barcelona offer a fascinating look at this transformation, revealing what the old configuration of the square was like and the infrastructures that have accompanied it over time.

The Plaza de las Glorias and Esteyco have been linked for almost 40 years. Esteyco landed in Barcelona with the Olympic works, and one of its emblematic projects was the ring and the reorganization of Glorias. Since then, both the square and Esteyco have evolved, adapting to the new times and needs of a city in constant transformation. We have been a fundamental part of both the design and execution of the square, the tunnel, the surroundings, and the urbanization.
